Cimarron Canyon State Park: 15 miles east of Angel Fire via US Hwy 64; featuring Palisades Sills (400 foot crenulated granite formations); campsites; rainbow and brown trout fishing in sparkling high mountain streams. (505-377-6271). Colin Neblett State Wildlife Area: 33,000 acres between Eagle Nest and Cimarron on US Hwy 64; fishing, camping, picnicking and hunting in season. Coyote Creek State Park: 22 miles south of Angel Fire via NM Hwy 434; campsites, excellent mountain stream fishing (505-387-2328). Eagle Nest Lake State Park: 2,200 surface acres; offers excellent boat and bank fishing, and ice fishing in the winter, more than 60,000 fishermen annually. For information please call 505-377-1594. Elliot Barker Trail: From Palo Flechado Pass south to Apache Pass and from there south for many miles, a beautiful and easy trail with some great vistas of the Wheeler Peak Wilderness once past Apache Pass. Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park: Visitor center and chapel located on Hwy 64 just north of Angel Fire; the first memorial built to honor those who served in Vietnam; with special observances Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
