Business Clusters
|
|
In This Section |
Though Angel Fire is a small community, we enjoy a broad mix of businesses that serve both residents and visitors. Nonetheless, because our
local economy is significantly tourism-based, it remains somewhat seasonal. Our long-term economic plans emphasize development and attraction
of non-tourism related businesses in order to reduce seasonality and better serve our growing year-round population. Angel Fire's Economic
Development Strategic Plan identifies five Tier I (existing) and two Tier 2 (emerging) business clusters of particular importance for our
community, each of which is described below.
As a resort community, Angel Fire has long been a strong market for investors and second home owners, so there is also a thriving business cluster
that includes commercial and residential construction, real estate sales and property management.
Angel Fire is working to augment each of these important groups through retention and expansion of existing businesses, entrepreneurial
development, and attracting relocating businesses.

Hospitality
As a popular southern Rockies ski resort since the late '60s, Angel Fire offers a wide variety of lodging options including tent and RV camping, traditional hotels, condos, private homes and seasonal bed-and-breakfasts. Many are served by local property management companies. All our restaurants are locally owned and operated, ranging from coffee houses to truly outstanding fine dining.
|
Recreation
Though known as a ski resort, Angel Fire offers an almost unlimited array of recreation options for the whole family. Local recreation businesses include guide services and outfitters as well as apparel and equipment sales and rental. The Angel Fire Resort Golf Course, which is open to the public, is one of New Mexico's top-rated courses, and the Resort's mountain bike trail system is ranked in the top ten nationally.

Retail & Services
Angel Fire's retail and service business community includes all the basics to serve local residents, from groceries and gasoline to auto parts, beauty and medical services. Residents and visitors alike also enjoy browsing our many gift and specialty shops. Of course there is always room for more shopping and more professional and businesses services.

Arts & Culture
The Angel Fire area is home to many artists working in paper, paint, fiber, metal and clay, some of whom open their studios to the public. Angel Fire is also home to two art galleries, the internationally famous chamber music concert series Music From Angel Fire, and several art shows and live theatre productions throughout the summer months.

Connectivity-Based Business
Thanks to the Internet, some businesses can be located anywhere, so business owners can live wherever they want. More and more outdoor lovers are choosing to operate their business from Angel Fire, to take advantage of our spectacular natural environment, excellent year round weather and myriad recreational opportunities right outside the door.

Veteran-Owned/Veteran Related
For decades, Angel Fire has been known as a place of spiritual healing for veterans and military families, who come to visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park. Building on that reputation and the fact that many veterans already live in the area, Angel Fire's Economic Development Strategic Plan focuses on encouraging and supporting vets to become permanent residents, living and working and raising their families in the Moreno Valley.

Green Tech/Clean Tech
Angel Fire is an ideal location for smaller companies working in the emerging "green" and "clean" industries. We have plenty of room for research and development as well as small manufacturing. And you won't find a more "green and clean" environment!
